Our Protocols

No antibiotics, steroids or hormones.

No steroids or hormones

Hormones or steroids are never administered to animals.

No antibiotics

We do not administer antibiotics unless the life of our animal is in jeopardy. We will not sell to customers if any is given.

certified organic feed

Animals are raised without feeding genetically modified organisms or GMO feed. Our feed is certified organic which is GMO-free and free of herbicides. (See types of feed below)

pasture-raised

All our animals are raised in an open pasture, and truly “pasture-raised”, beyond what the USDA requires.

The USDA allows pasture-raised to be raised in buildings as long as the chicken or turkey has access to the pasture.

Check out our YouTube channel, to see how we raise the animals on the pasture.

no pesticides or herbicides

Organic vegetables are free from pesticides and herbicides so you can feel good about what is on your plate.

Types of feed

Farmers and ranchers choose the type of feed that is given to their animals. What they eat affects the meat.

Conventional

This can contain genetically modified organisms, which are modified to be resistant to weed killers, such as Round-Up (Glyphosate). The corn or soy can be sprayed with a weed killer, which kills the weeds growing next to them and not be affected by it. (We do not want this for our animals, which would be ingested by us.)

non-gmo

The crops are not genetically modified to resist weed-killer. This is a great improvement over conventional feed. (Comments from Ron: The issue I have with this is that the crops can still be sprayed with weed killer to speed up the drying process to be harvested sooner.)

See “WHY GLYPHOSATE IS USED ON NON-GMO CROPS”

organic

Organic crops must be protected from contamination by prohibited substances, such as pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers from adjoining lands.  The soil or crops cannot be sprayed with pesticides or herbicides.

THIS IS WHAT WE USE.
